Exclusive to MACE Engineering, our design-registered 6.35mm manifold insulator to suit
Holden supercharged 6 L67 engines.
This modification has been specifically designed to improve your existing aluminium intercooler plate efficiency (more cooling power) by insulating the hot engine heat from soaking into the intercooler plate. It can also be used in un-intercooled vehicles as well.
Key benefits:
* Improve power consistency by significantly reducing heat soak into the supercharger or intercooler plate
* Produces a cooler intake charge therefore reduces the tendency for detonation, meaning more ignition timing or boost for more power!
* Can also be used to insulator your existing aluminium intercooler plate
* Reusable over and over again.
* No undesirable side effects
What are manifold insulators and what do they do?
Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length.
But how do manifold insulators keep the intake manifold cooler?
Given our manifold insulators are made from a composite material with a thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m*K as opposed to aluminium, which has a thermal conductivity of 150 W/m*K; The difference works out to be that aluminium conducts heat 500 times higher then our composite material!
Also, with gaskets often made out of steel (20 W/m*K thermal conductivity), placed between the upper and lower manifolds, replacing a .5mm gasket with a 6.35mm insulator will conduct an amazing 688 times less heat (yes, that's over 70,000% reduction!). What this basically means is that it becomes very difficult for the engine to heat up the manifold, which ultimately means more power for extended periods (i.e. considerably fewer heat soak issues)!
Our composite material also exhibits high stiffness and compressive strength, can withstand temperatures up to nearly 150oC, and has a thermal expansion coefficient very similar to aluminium to increase sealing capabilities. In addition, the spacer can also withstand boosted conditions with ease.
