Great for an easy power update

Nice smooth acceleration, on a stock VS Series 2
running on 91 oct. Will try out on 98 soon.
And also see how it goes in a Christchurch, South Island winter.

On my VS Commodore wagon V6 Ecotec with T5 stickshift, adding the 69mm TB and matching memcal has had a MAJOR effect on performance and a 10% - 15% improvement in fuel economy.

Previously, I could only get 104kph pulling 0.4 bar vacuum. 0.4 bar vacuum is my personal limit without excessive fuel use. Now 0.4 bar vacuum gets me to 120kph!!

I have realized that the so-called Ecotec engine came from the factory with chronic asthma. And now it is cured!! I am getting a similar fuel economy to what my Buick-engined VR was getting after 450K km!! So may the fleas of a thousand camels infest the hairy armpits of the Ecotec engineers! I have wasted some $1500 in fuel, and the medicine to cure the asthma, in the 3½ years I have owned this vehicle.

I expect to pay off the cost of these items in 12 to 18 months. A great ROI! Not to mention that the engine is now much more flexible and tractable - just like the Buick engine in tje VR was.

I installed this along with the 69mm throttle body and noticed the difference as soon as I left the driveway. Car feels much more powerful off the line, transmission changes up earlier and changes down much faster. I give it a little more throttle and feel it instantly. And this is still running on 91, look forward to seeing the difference when I fill up with 98.

Took ten mins to install car feels alot smoother more willing to rev and the gear changes and shift points in the auto are heaps better very happy

Fitted the MEMCAL to a 1997 V6 Toyota Lexcen (VS Commodore) and the improvement is awesome. The engine seems to run smoother and definitely has more power although I haven't done dyno tests to prove that statement. The car drives like you feel it always should have driven. Just seems more driveable and more relaxing to drive. It's a family car and not a racing car but it always felt like it was sluggish and a bit heavy to me when I drove it. Not any more. It's a pleasure to drive now and I look forward to it and definitely worth the money for the MEMCAL.

The MEMCAL was fitted to standard V6 VS commodore and the power out put went from standard 145Kw to 160Kz which is comparable to the power of the VS V8 which is 165Kw. I took the car to my mechanic for him to take for a drive and he was absolutely amassed at the power increase. He was totally taken back by the change. I would recommend this performance addition to any Holden Commodore driver. I am now going to purchase the Cold Box Intake to further enhance the performance thank you Mace engineering Well done

Was very happy with this product, didnt take long to install and the results we're a smile on my face, it climbs higher in the rev range and shifts are alot better, fuel is abit better aswell, of course a good service and engine clean would make it better.

Thankyou for the item, i will be buying more!

have just tried this out, haven't had much time due to work...
There is a difference in gear changing as in a little sharper,
a difference in power output, a little lost down low but more in high end revs umm pulled up to 6500rpm very quickly.
Smoother acceleration through the range.
Will get other mods later...

With the easy installtion of this chip, youll notice straight away a very smooth 'modern like' running improvement out of which is essentially a 'nineties' motor. My 97 S2 VS V6 runs real sweet now... If you 'grandpa' it youll save fuel and the cost of the chip will pay for itself in no time - BONUS! But if you wanna thrash it on 98 RON you'll still save fuel! just not as much Hehe. Most advantages can be noticed at high throttle driving applications - perfect for highway use -when the motor really comes into hardcore power - such as overtaking with a very angry growl, YOU'LL LOVE! Now i need a stage 1 trans upgrade kit. Then a MACE 25mm manifold insulator combined with a MACE 12MM plenum spacer for a bottom end torque improvement. CHEERS.

So far (and potentially due to other mods) this is the best bang for buck improvement I’ve made. I’ve swapped the chips (OEM & Mace) around numerous times and it certainly isn’t a placebo. Here’s what I can report:

• Better cold starts (I live in Canberra);
• Idle improvement (complete loss of unexplained hunting/surging)
• Nice consistent torque range (I lost some bottom end when I opened the cat/exhaust up)
• Transmission shift points are now very well placed; and
• Fuel consumption is noticeably less.

I’ve been giving the car a harder time than normal since the chip went in and even still managed to pull and extra 47kms out of a tank of 98. It should be impressive when I grandpa it.

If your L36 has more than 140,000, and you’re considering this mod, my advice is; grab a new set of O2’s, clean your MAF using the CRC speciality cleaner, clean your throttle body and IAC, replace your air filter. Make sure your spark is strong (I highly rate NGK Iridium) and your injectors free and functional.

Was a really easy install. the only issue people might have is with the chip being able to be plugged in both ways, but luckily mace had pictures in the installation instructions to show just which way it should be facing. Great work

Motor is running much smoother on idle, acceleration is improved and now requires even less pedal for take off and cruise, Engine feels much stronger and makes more consistent power by removing any lag in throttle response, power comes on MUCH sooner and is more consistent though out all the rev range the engine feels like it uses much less effort.
The support from Steve in fantastic, He puts allot of time into answering any Q's on "just commodores" forum. this does not go unnoticed Steve

my stock v6 picks up and grunts like it should with extractors , chip , throttle body , cold air intake , 25mm manifold gasket , stage one shift kit & pressure valve,,, the plenum now runs cold and for the future definately a supercharger,,,
