High Ratio Roller Rockers

Q. What sort of gains would I expect from a set of 1.9:1 rockers and a 25mm plenum spacer (or the manifold spacer) on a VT v6? Would I need new valve springs? VT has 230k on the clock so I guess they'd be getting a bit tired?

A. The 1.9:1 ratio rockers will give you around 10-13kw at the rears, while a 25mm manifold insulator will increase low down torque by around 13% and increase top end power by 1-2 kws. Though the top end power isn't all that great the increase in bottom end torque is with customers saving around .2-.3+ of their quarter mile time. Unlikely that you'll need valve springs (if you’re running boost that might be a different story). If you do however we can supply a set of crow springs for $175.

Q. With your 1.9:1 rockers do you supply pushrods? Or will stock rods be fine?

A. With our 1.9:1 rockers pushrods are optional and are only required if you're installing them on a VY V6

Q. With your 1.9:1 rockers, are they worth getting with N/A or are they only suited to forced induction?

A. The 1.9:1 and 1.98:1 rockers work like a champ on N/A cars

Q. Any rockers available for the Buick-engine commodores?

A. They certainly are...1.8:1 ratio rockers (up from 1.6:1)

Q. I’ve got a series 2 VY and I’ve heard that there is an issue with the higher ratio rockers on these? What exactly is the issue? And what’s the highest ratio you guys recommend to get?

A. On a VY the highest that you can go without cylinder head modification is a 1.9:1 ratio used in conjunction with our push rods. The issue is casting flash making contact with the push rod. You can modify this area which is what we'll be doing on our heads when we supply them with 2.25:1 ratio rockers. For an ecotec the 1.9:1 rockers are the best bang for buck item around and they certainly wake up any ecotec 6

Q. Am I able to do the rockers and boost upgrade myself?

A. If your patient and are handy with a spanner then it's certainly something you can do by yourself

Q. Do I need to change pushrods on my VS engine, If so why?

A. The 1.98:1 ratio rockers need new pushrods even on a VS given the increase in spring force.
