These trunnion kits replace the factory LS rocker internals that are prone to failure when exposed to extended levels of high rpm, high valve spring pressures and amplified rotation from high-lift camshafts. The OE needle bearing housings can begin to separate from the rocker arm when exposed to these conditions, gradually spitting out all the needle rollers which in turn results in a catastrophe.

Extra security measures have been taken with the use of extended width trunnions with snap-ring grooves instead of the bearing housings only relying on a press-fit type fixture. Head bolts play a vital role in the sealing of the combustion chamber, oil/coolant channels and ambient air. Therefore, we recommend our Mahle cylinder head bolt set for the task. Having met and exceeded OEM specifications, these quality bolts are suited for standard and mildly modified applications. These are torque-to-yield (TTY) bolts which means they are designed to be tightened past their elastic limit, guaranteeing high and uniform clamping forces. Other benefits include pre-applied sealant to the threads eliminating the use of thread locker and no-retorquing is necessary after correct installation procedures have been followed.

It features a patented “flat spring” design that’s engineered to provide less operating range variations in tension. This reduces the risk of premature accessory bearing failure due to high tension when a new belt is installed. When it comes to building horsepower and torque, you need to start at the bottom and work your way up. Bullet-proof your LS engine's bottom-end with high quality components from Manley Performance. Stroking out the 5.7L LS1 V8 to no more than 383 cubic inches (6.3L) is fundamental in preserving its reliability. Unfortunately, given the manufacturing processes that were in place at the time of release, the cast iron cylinder liners could only be bored out by 0.010”. Anymore than this could potentially deform cylinder walls under high pressure, especially in boosted applications.

Unfortunately, Manley Performance does not have an off-the-shelf kit ready to go for the LS1. Therefore, we have taken the time and used our sought after automotive engineering background to select an appropriate combination from their custom parts list to suit both naturally aspirated and boosted setups.
